Ram Rajya: The Concept of Complete Socialism.

Ram Rajya-Gandhi dream t about it. Some of our political parties has been talking about it. But Ram Rajya still remains a distant dream. But what exactly is Ram Rajya?

A free translation of the verse is as follows: “As he (Shri Ram) was incorruptible, people were prosperous: as he provided them complete security, they were able to engage themselves in creative and productive activities; as he offered them leadership by example, he was like a father unto them; and as in their hour of distress he was by their side to wipe their tears, he was like a son.”

The first criterion clearly shows that the prosperity of a nation as also that of an organization is inversely proportional to the level of corruption at the top. Ram Rajya was not the complete monarchy. In this monarchy there was the full respect of public sentiments. There was no capitalism, no unemployement no castism a complete socialism.

In post-colonial India, Ram Rajya as a concept was first projected by Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhiji announced that Ram Rajya would be brought once Independence arrived. When he was asked about the ideal State, he talked about Ram Rajya. By using the Ram Rajya slogan, Gandhiji implied an ideal Rajya (without being communal) where values of justice, equality, idealism, renunciation and sacrifice are practised.

Charter of Ram Rajya

If we want to know that was the concept of Ram Rajya than we have must read some chopai of Ramayan. Here I am giving some chopai of Ramayan to understand the charter of Ram Rajya.

Ram Rajya Baithe Trailoka |
Harshit Bhaye Gaye Sab Shoka ||
Meaning : When Ram became the King of Three worlds, everyone was happy and all sorrows diminished.

Daihik Daivik bhautik Tapa |
Ram Rajya Nahin Kahuhin Vyapa ||
Meaning : During rule of Ram there was no psychological, physical and material pains to anyone.

Bayar Na Kar Kahu San Koi |
Ram Pratap Vishamata Khoi ||
Meaning : None engaged in enmity with anyone. Due to grace of Ram Differences had been merged.

Nahin Daridra, Koi Dukhi Na Deena |
Nahin Koi Abudha Na Lakshan Heena ||
Meaning : There was lack of poverty, sorrow, humiliation, and ignorance. Everyone possessed good quality.

Alpa Mratyu Nahi Kavaneu Peera |
Sab Sunder Sab Viruj Sareera. ||
Meaning : None died premature death. Everybody had pleasant and healthy body.

All the chopai’s shows the characteristics of Ram rajya. Actually, after the end of the war coincides with the end of Ram’s tenure of exile. Flying home on the Pushpak Viman, Ram returns to a joyous Ayodhya. His mothers, brothers and the people joyously welcome him. Kaikeyi is repentant of her deeds, and Ram forgives her. The next day, Ram is invested as the King of Ayodhya, and Emperor of the World. Although he first asks Lakshman to become the yuvaraja, upon the advice of Lakshman he invests the position to Bharata, who has had fourteen years of experience as the ruler of Ayodhya. Rama performs the holy Ashwamedha sacrifice, purifying and establishing religion ( humanity and truth not means chritian, muslims, hindu and other) across earth.

Beyond the Ramayan, the eleven thousand years of Ram’s rule over the earth represent to millions of modern Indians a time and age when God as a man ruled the world. There was perfect justice and freedom, peace and prosperity. There are no natural disasters, diseases, ailments or ill-fortune of any nature for any living being. There are no sins committed in the world by any of his people. Always attentive and accessible to his people, Rama is worshiped and hailed by all – the very symbol of moksha, the ultimate goal and destination of all life, and the best example of perfect character and human conduct, inspiring human beings for countless succeeding ages.

Historically, from the Ramayan, the chapter on Ayodhya gives a majestic description of Ram Rajya, where peace, prosperity and tranquility reigned, for there was no one to challenge the seat of Ayodhya, literally the land without wars. Incidentally in Hindi, “Ayodhya” means “a place where there is no war.” Hence “Ram Rajya” is described as an ideal society.

Ram, who relates the tribes, foresters, aboriginal and backward, to the main stream of the society & by his magical touch stones floats in water, & statues becomes alive, fears the devils. That Ram, is the real creator of socialism.
